Update on Tweety Pie, my second canary. I was informed last week that my canaries were in fact NOT canaries, but called "colorins". I have as yet been unable to translate this species of canary into English.

Tweety Pie also suffered a mishap. Whilst cleaning out his cage last a couple of days ago, the very nervous bird managed to squeeze out of the cage bars and flew out... ending up sitting - quite happily it seemed to me - on the road below the terrace in our cul de sac. Now when it comes to nervous birds who flutter their wings so much every time I approach them - as was the case with Tweety Pie - this makes me nervous too. Eventually one of my neighbour's friends very gently caught it and put it back in its cage. He asked if he could keep Tweety Pie, and explained that he is a bird lover, so I said "yes". Tweety Pie has gone to a much better home now; I will unlikely consider having any more birds as pets, and... perhaps I should not have written this article in the first place. :(
